COME OUT

Let's take it back 4-5 yrs in Toronto, Canada when an aspiring hip-hop artist dropped a video called Soobax(above). I remember, the critics that lined up mocking the approach to an african visual from a Somalian-Canadian artist. Personally, the song didn't connect with me immediately, but the imagery was enough to give K'naan a chance.

After a thorough hip-hop check I realized that the content was above par for the generation he was rocking in. If that wasn't enough, being educated by one of my respected peers to K'naan's performance lineage and his UN status after a well-received speech sealed the deal. I'm glad that he's able to wave his own flag after half a decade in the game. -Safari-
