"Promised Land" by Dennis Brown x Aswad. One of the grimiest, filthiest, down right dirtiest tracks of all time...in my opinion. Most are familiar with this tune because of Dennis Brown, and not the UK group Aswad, who's original rhythm "Love Fire" set the tone. Aswad were one of the tightest bands out of the UK, consisting of Brinsley Forde, George Oban, Angus "Drummie Zeb" Gaye, Donald Griffiths, and later on Courtney Hemmings. They backed Burning Spear on his 1977 "Live" album, recorded at the Rainbow Theatre in London, and played alongside each one of The Wailers, nuff said. "Love Fire" has got to be one of my favorite rhythms of all time, enjoy. -Dread Perry-
